What does it take to build an award winning family home?

Sicato Residential and Cooper Roofing know the winning formula. Built with quality materials and impeccable workmanship, it was no surprise 38 Madison Terrace, Millwater won Registered Master Builders 2014 House of the Year’s gold award.

Sicato Residential designed, built and landscaped this award winning family home featuring Gerard Corona Shake textured roof in Charcoal. The home is based around a Mount Eden style villa with timber weather boards and window facings, giving it a traditional look but with the modern conventions of a new build. The home encompasses four bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms, a separate formal lounge and open plan kitchen, dining and lounge rooms. The 289m2 roof features Gerard Corona Shake tiles in charcoal with angle trim. Reflecting the charm of colonial times, Gerard Roofs Corona Shake is designed to replicate the look and feel of a handmade real wood shake, making it the perfect solution to complement Sicato Residential’s villa design.

Prior to 2012, Sicato was working with a different roofing company, but changed to Cooper Roofing in February 2012 when they discovered the superior profile and resilience of Gerard Roofs products. Simon Bird, Director of Sicato says, “We changed from using mainly concrete and asphalt shingle roofs because of the more robust nature and aesthetic of the Gerard tile.” Designed to be used in any environment, Gerard tiles are the ideal solution for any location in New Zealand. Precise installation by a Gerard Certified Roofer, like Cooper Roofing, ensures the roof is installed to the highest levels of workmanship, which is backed by a comprehensive three-point warranty covering weather resistance, surface coating and installation.

Sicato Residential and Cooper Roofing are quick to sing each other’s praise. “We use Cooper Roofing and will continue to do so because of their good service and communication, quality workmanship and competitive pricing,” says Simon. Having worked on plenty of other projects that have not run as smoothly, Penny Alexander of Cooper Roofing says “Sicato Residential are a dream to work alongside. Their houses are always well constructed and ready for roofing when we get to the site.” It is this professionalism and integrity that enables such a solid working relationship between the two companies.

A well deserved gold award gained by Sicato Residential, and they will undoubtedly continue to win awards for their prize winning homes for many years to come.
